Internship 6 -12 Month

The application and hiring process for all interns will take 4-5 weeks to complete after the candidate submits their completed application packet. All appointed missionaries are required to raise their individual support before they are released to the field.

Support raising for applicants takes approximately the amount of time of their desired service and the 4-5 weeks needed to complete the application/hiring process.

Purpose:

The Cadence Intern position exists to gain practical experience and to support our missionaries on the field. Interns facilitate ministry strategies and programs to accomplish the sharing of the gospel and their lives with military people and their families.

Areas of Emphasis: Children, Youth or Adult Ministry

Time Commitment: 6 months to 1 year

Hours: 40 hours per week

Duties and Responsibilities:

Cadence Interns will be provided with the opportunity to gain practical, on-the-field experience. While serving alongside Cadence Field Staff, we invite you to be committed to embracing the learning experience with humility and a desire to learn, grow, and ask questions as you experience ministry to the military.

Internship duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Disciple:
    • Discipleship meetings.
      • With field staff.
      • Weekly meetings that are intentional towards spiritual growth and investment.
    • A weekly day of rest.
      • Choose a weekly day of rest with your ministry team.
    • Journaling
  • Equip:
    • Cadence content.
      • Pre-Internship trainings and calls.
    • Ministry skills.
      • MPD (Ministry of Partnership Development).
        • Attend cohort calls.
        • Raise support for internship.
        • Write a minimum of two prayer letters.
        • Communicate with those supporting and praying for you.
      • Bible teaching.
        • Bible teaching focused for your ministry context (adults, youth, or children).
        • Field Staff must be present and provide feedback.
      • Hospitality.
        • Prepare and lead a ministry night.
        • Know the various aspects of the ministry.
      • Discipleship.
        • Ten hours of weekly relational ministry outside of ministry day.
      • Outreach.
        • Plan, organize, and execute an event.
        • It has a focus on outreach or the needs of the ministry.
      • Sharing the gospel.
        • The ability to express the Gospel in a relatable way in teaching and relationships.
      • Leading small groups
        • Examples: Small group during a ministry night, a Bible study, or a four-week gathering that has been planned.
      • Leading crowd breakers or games.
      • Ministry meetings.
        • With Field Staff.
        • Weekly meetings for intentional training and feedback.
      • Purposeful goodbyes.
  • With experiences and opportunities.
    • Attend chapel services.
    • Attend chaplain/chapel meetings.
    • Be present and involved in ministry events.
    • Attend Cadence field ministry meetings.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Born again, mature Christian with an affinity for the mission and work of Cadence International.
  • Because of the distinctly Christian emphasis of Cadence's mission work, willing to sign and comply with Cadence Internationals Code of Christian Conduct.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of work experience or college.
  • Demonstrated spiritual, emotional, marital (if applicable) and financial health.
  • Specific Skills:
    • Knowledge of standard business written communications. Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • General computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Ability and willingness to learn and become proficient on the software applications used by Cadence.
    • Strengths in administration, multi-tasking, and organizational skills. Able to handle administrative and financial tasks required by Cadence.
    • Ability to graciously re-prioritize workload as demands change throughout the day. Flexibility to meet demands of a dynamic work environment.

  • Communication skills, including conflict resolution.
  • Team skills - able to partner with others to do ministry, within Cadence and outside of it.

  • Heart for reaching the military and the world reflected through personal serving of others and sharing of resources.
  • Willingness to learn how to develop and teach Bible studies.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Cadence International is an evangelical mission agency dedicated to reaching the military communities of the United States and the world with the Good News of Jesus Christ. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs, talk, listen, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
