Reports to: Dining and Catering Manager
Job Summary:
- Under the general direction of the Dining and Catering Manager, the Asst. Director of Dining Services, and the Director of Dining.
- Is responsible for assisting in the set-up of the dining area before, during, and after mealtimes.
- Supervises student workers to ensure daily efficiency in the dining room.
- Assists the Dining and Catering Manager and other staff in setting up and clearing the supplies for special functions and caterings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Daily cleaning and sanitizing of the dining room, food bars, sweeping, mopping, and general cleaning. Polishing silver and brass.
- Responsible for set-up of pop-up bars, salad bar, and hot bars at dinner and buffet lines in dining room. Keeps salad and pop-up bars stocked.
- Assists with linens, hanging and decorating for holiday functions; also assists with Centennial Room during special functions.
- Assists with checking duties for the dining room.
- Trains and assists student workers.
- Assists in other areas as required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Knowledge of food production and serving methods and procedures; basic elements of correct English usage, spelling, vocabulary; basic mathematics.
- Food production and serving; following and giving oral and written instructions; reading and writing at the level required for successful job performance; learning rules, methods, and policies of the workplace; using correct English; making simple mathematical calculations; lifting up to 50 lbs.; and standing for an extended period of time.
Credentials and Experience:
- High school graduate, and
- Six months' experience in the food service industry including food production.
Required Work hours:
- Tuesday – Friday, 11:00 am – 8:00 pm
- Every other weekend, Saturday and Sunday 11:00 am – 8:00 pm
- Full time, 9-month position
- Overtime required for special events.
