Position Summary:
The Kitchen Cook is accountable for maintaining a clean and organized work area, ensuring food made to company standards.
PANTRY: The pantry person preps all salads and desserts.
PREP COOK: The prep cook is the behind the scenes Employee. They prepare all of the sauces and food items for the restaurant.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- A Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients, serves food, processing customer orders, producing meals and cleaning their workspace throughout the day to follow health and safety guidelines.
- Cooks follow recipes consistently, make adjustments based on customer requests, communicate with wait staff and prepare garnishes to make an attractive presentation for each meal.
- Maintains a clean and organized kitchen work area, including but not limited to dry and clean floors to ensure staff safety.
- Assists with restocking station tasks to ensure a constant inventory of food to prepare. Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh
- Setup work station with required food and equipment, breakdown and clean workstation.
- Other duties as assigned/required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to maintain clean and hygienic work areas in accordance with Jack Allen’s Kitchen and Salt Trader and health code standards
- Knowledge of food sanitation and safety principles and practices
- Strong communication, organizational, multitasking, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Education, Certifications, and Licenses
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Texas Food Handler’s License
Experience
- At least one year ktichen experience in a fast paced restaurant eniveronment
- knowledge of weights, measurements, volumn and cooking procedures
Working Conditions
The working conditions for this position include an indoor climate-controlled environment with minimal health and safety hazards. This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, multitask, perform simple and repetitive tasks, attain precise attention to detail, control the work pace, follow instructions, work under supervision, handle confrontational situations, and work alone or in a group. Environmental conditions include working in an indoor setting with exposure to noise, congested areas, slippery surfaces, sharp edges, and handling sharp, hot, cold, and wet objects. Tobacco-free environment.
Physical Requirements
The physical requirements for this position primarily involve constant walking and standing and frequent bending forward and twisting at the waist, reaching above/below shoulder and chest level, elbow and wrist flexion and extension, neck twisting/turning/tilting, and foot pedal action. Occasional crouching, kneeling, and reaching behind the body. The individual in this position must have fine motor skills. Sensory demands include hearing, speech, vision, spatial perception, and tactile.
