Position Summary:
The Barista employee is accountable for continuously maintaining the coffee shop counter, giving guests attentive service and making coffee drinks to company standards. Maintaining the Barista department includes but not limited to fulfilling coffee well orders, prepping enough ingredients, garnishes and juices. Collecting money from guests and Togo orders received. Meeting timing standards set in place for your restaurant.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensures exceptional customer service is provided to the internal team and customers.
- Responsible for continuously managing the Coffee shop togo orders by getting drinks to where they are going quickly, and exceptional customer service throughout the scheduled shift.
- Maintains a clean and organized Walk-in cooler, and storage areas, including but not limited to dry and clean floors to ensure staff safety, clean surfaces, clean bar top and refilling product as needed.
- Assists with restocking tasks to ensure a constant inventory of beverages from the cooler and clean glassware for employees to use.
- Ensures guests are happy with their food, service, and beverages.
- Only serves alcohol to people 21 years of age or older.
- Other duties as assigned/required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain clean and hygienic work areas in accordance with Day Maker Half Day Café and health code standards.
- Knowledge of food sanitation and safety principles and practices.
- Strong communication, organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Education, Certifications, and Licenses
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Texas Food Handler’s License
- TABC Certified
Experience
- Barista experience preferred
Working Conditions:
The working conditions for this position include an indoor climate-controlled environment with minimal health and safety hazards. Hot plates and hot heat lamps in kitchen work area. Espresso machine with hot water under pressure can cause steam or liquid burns if not used properly. Working conditions outdoors includes running out Togo orders to the parking lot, retrieving linens from the shed outside. This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, multitask, perform simple and repetitive tasks, attain precise attention to detail, control the work pace, follow instructions, work under supervision, handle confrontational situations, and work alone or in a group. Environmental conditions include working in an indoor setting with exposure to noise, congested areas, slippery surfaces, sharp edges, and handling sharp, hot, cold, and wet objects. Tobacco-free environment.
Physical Requirements:
The physical requirements for this position primarily involve constant walking and standing and frequent bending forward and twisting at the waist, reaching above/below shoulder and chest level, elbow and wrist flexion and extension, neck twisting/turning/tilting, and foot pedal action. Carrying a large and small tray weighing up to 30 lbs over your shoulder is required. Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs. Occasional crouching, kneeling, and reaching behind the body. The individual in this position must have fine motor skills. Sensory demands include hearing, speech, vision, spatial perception, and tactile.
