Bartender

Gas Monkey

General Purpose of the Job:

As a Bartender, you must be friendly, outgoing and possess good communication skills. A guest’s dinner and/or bar experience should be equally enjoyable, and you play a major role in the overall picture. Remember, consistency is a key element in a positive experience. We achieve this by always following recipes. Your individual personality should shine through – use it to your advantage. You should be organized, able to think and act quickly and effectively while retaining self-composure. Be guest sensitive and possess a sense of timing. Take pride in personal appearance and show dedication to your job. Display integrity and honesty in all aspects of your employment. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to pass Responsible Service of Alcohol Test and obtain TABC certification.
  • Protect Taco Lingo by practicing responsible alcohol service and quality control on all drinks leaving the bar.  Calling a taxi when necessary.
  • Adhere to all drink recipes, syrups and infusions.
  • Follow beer handling and receiving guidelines
  • Welcome each guests personally within 30 seconds, write the guest name and your name on the workshop tape so the guests always know who you are.
  • Communicate with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone and body language at all times.
  • Make guests feel appreciated through your actions.
  • Work as a team with all personnel in order to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service.
  • Work with others to keep all areas cleaned and stocked to company standards at all times.
  • Mix, garnish and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for patrons of bar and dining room following standard recipes.
  • Ring drink orders into computer immediately, collect money from guests for drinks served and make change.
  • Arrange bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display in agreement with Taco Lingo’s standards.
  • Be attentive! Offer your assistance before the guests has to ask for it.
  • Count drinks Guests are served.
  • Place current bar tabs in front of Guests at all times.
  • Anticipate your guest’s needs.  Follow the half-full rule when offering another drink.
  • Be alert of guest signals (raising a hand, looking directly at you, etc.), and acknowledge the guest so they know you will be right with them.
  • Learn your guests’ names, occupations, and favorite drinks.  This will make Taco Lingo a special place for them.
  • Do not hesitate to ask for management intervention if necessary.
  • Other duties as directed.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of FIFO inventory method.
  • Special Skills or knowledge necessary for this position.
  • Basic mathematical skills, handle money and give correct change.
  • Basic reading skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic knowledge of beer, wine and spirits, and be familiar with standard drink recipes.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Multi-task oriented.
  • Knowledge of Gas Monkey’s food & beverage specifications.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures.
  • Licenses certification, or registrations required for the position.
  • State applicable health and/or alcohol compliance card.

The physical demands described here are the representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • This role requires the ability to move, push and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods of time and ensuring a professional appearance in a clean uniform are also required. 
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs repeatedly during the shift
