Litigation Paralegal
In-House Legal Team | Natura Life + Science | Sacramento, California
About Natura
Natura Life + Science is a vertically integrated California cannabis operator headquartered in Sacramento. We hold licenses across cultivation, manufacturing, distribution, and retail, and we build and operate flagship brands including Sluggers. As we scale, our in-house legal function is expanding to handle the full lifecycle of corporate, regulatory, real estate, intellectual property, and commercial matters that come with operating a maturing business in a young, fast-moving industry.
The Role
We are hiring a Litigation Paralegal to join our in-house legal team in Sacramento. This is a substantive role: you will support active and anticipated commercial and litigation matters from intake through resolution, working directly with our General Counsel and Corporate Counsel. You will own the litigation calendar, document production workflows, and the discovery and evidence operations for the matters we run in-house. We are a small, fast-moving department that handles meaningful work. The person in this role will have a visible impact from week one.
What You Will Do
Manage litigation calendars across multiple active matters, with particular attention to Sacramento Superior Court deadlines, local rules, e-filing procedures, and tentative ruling conventions
Coordinate document collection, review, Bates-stamping, privilege logging, and production exchange with opposing counsel and outside counsel
Draft and revise pleadings, motions, declarations, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and correspondence under attorney supervision
Proofread documents, contracts, and other legal document
Build and maintain evidence files including, but not limited to, witness files, deposition exhibits, evidence indexes, and the document repository
Coordinate with outside counsel: file transmittal, status tracking, billing review, deadline management, and document hand-offs
Administer e-discovery platforms and case management software; suggest better tools, templates, and workflows when you see them
Operate with discretion and judgment on confidential, sensitive, and time-pressured information
What We Are Looking For
Three or more years of litigation paralegal experience, ideally including litigation matters in California state court
Working knowledge of California Superior Court rules, calendaring conventions, and electronic filing procedures
Strong written communication: clear, concise, error-free prose under deadline. We will ask for writing samples
Obsessive attention to detail. You read footnotes, verify exhibit numbering, and notice when a defined term shifts between two drafts
Comfort with modern legal technology: case management platforms, e-discovery tools, document automation, cloud-based document management. Willingness to learn new tools quickly and recommend better ones
Self-directed and organized: you can manage parallel matters without dropping deadlines and without being micromanaged
Discretion, judgment, and steadiness under pressure
Nice to Have
Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program
Experience supporting matters with significant document volume, including complex commercial disputes or high-volume e-discovery
Familiarity with the California cannabis regulatory environment, or with another heavily regulated industry
Trial preparation experience
Experience using AI platforms
Compensation and Benefits
Competitive base salary $70,304-$90k, commensurate with experience
Health, dental, and vision insurance
Paid time off and standard benefits package
Sacramento headquarters; in-person preferred with hybrid flexibility for the right candidate
