School Bus Driver

Qualifications:
HS Diploma/GED, CDL/P&S Licenses, Knowledge of Public Safety and Security/ Bus Maintenance, Current School Bus Driver Training and Certification; Current DOT Medical Card, Negative drug/alcohol results, Able to pass fingerprint-based background check, 1+ year of experience.
Essential Job Functions
The school bus driver transports passengers to and from school as well as special events. They will ensure adherence to safety rules and may assist passengers in boarding or exiting. The following are the essential functions of the job:
- Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
- Maintain order among pupils during trips to ensure safety.
- Follow safety procedures for passenger boarding/exiting/street-crossing near bus stops.
- Check the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order. Make minor repairs to vehicles.
- Monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to make sure the bus is working properly.
- Report any bus malfunctions or needed repairs.
- Pick up and drop off students at regularly scheduled neighborhood locations, following strict time schedules.
- Prepare and submit reports that may include the number of passengers or trips, hours worked, mileage, fuel consumption, or fares received.
- Maintain knowledge of first aid procedures.
- Keep bus interiors clean for passengers.
- Read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
- Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
- Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for passenger comfort.
- Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned and as may be requested by the Director of Transportation.
- Adhere to the Yellowstone Employee Handbook.

Passenger bus, first aid kits, emergency exit doors, exterior automobile lighting, fire extinguishers, pressure indicators and other gauges, and two-way radios.
Working Conditions
Must be able to maintain emotional control under stress. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Regularly sitting, listening, and using hands, arms, and fingers. Occasionally talking, standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Occasionally working near moving mechanical parts, near fumes, and in outdoor weather conditions.
