Level/Grade: Regular Full-Time, 40 hours per week
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Job Description: Responsible to oversee and support nursing staff while responsible for a limited number of patients. Responsible to maintain high level of patient care and act as an educational resource for nurses.
Lead Nurse Job Duties:
- Responsible to assist nursing staff as well as provide patient care
- Responsible for daily nursing schedule
- Responsible for the general flow of patient and assigning nurses and support staff to cover patient volume
- Responsible to provide guidance on administering care to patients and answer questions regarding protocol
- Responsible to help develop and implement training and education to train new nurses and staff
- Responsible to document performance of nurses and report this to the Nurse Manager
- Responsible to meet with management team to discuss personnel issues and address and solve problems among staff
- Responsible to keep patients informed of current status by informing them if provider has had to leave to go to hospital or other unforeseen issues
- Responsible for ensuring that lab, xray, immunizations and other orders that are ordered by provider are completed in a timely manner
- Responsible to keep daily nursing schedule up to date and re-assign staff as needed throughout the day
Nonessential functions: Attend huddle meetings, replace toner cartridges in printers, kitchen duty rotation, maintaining clean and organized work space, notify appropriate staff of low inventory supplies when needed, immediately notify appropriate personnel or IT of any telephone, computer, printer, scanner, or software issues
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Three or more years experience in medical office setting-required
Two or more years experience as Supervisor-required
Current CPC Certification
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
LPN Degree and valid license in state of MS
